Building a list is something all online business owners need to be thinking about right now. The current climate is one of uncertainty (thanks to COVID and the impending recession). As a result, many businesses are making the online world their main business home. When you build your own mailing list you have something that’s a business asset – a list of people who have already expressed interest in some way. Because if you continue relying on things like your friends list on Facebook or Instagram, you’ll be seriously lost, if either of those platforms were to disappear overnight.

But the social networks own your friends lists – not you. You can’t export them and you’d have no idea who (or how!) to contact the majority of them, if you were to lose access to them. That’s why you need to move them off your social network platforms and onto a space you do own.

Building a list is crucial because it’s an asset for your business

Your mailing list is the only list of names and email addresses you do own. And it’s a valuable asset to your business. It’s a list of people who have already expressed an interest in what you do, what you sell. That list is valuable to you as it is ripe with potential sales and future super fans!

So if you haven’t already started building a list, you really need to get started. 

If you don’t, you’re missing out on a golden opportunity to help your business grow. You’ll be making it harder on yourself to make more money and you’ll simply be leaving the gate open for someone else to come along and capture that potential for themselves.
