Do you have a lead magnet for your business? It’s an essential freebie resource that will attract your ideal clients and help turn them from subscribers into buyers. But it’s only valuable to them and you if you actively promote it! So let me ask you – do you know how to promote a lead magnet?

Unfortunately, it isn’t something you automatically know how to do when starting in business. Yet, done well, it can help you grow your list faster, showcase your expertise and put you in front of many potential warm buyers. So it’s an essential promotional activity that you need to get to grips with.

So let’s get you started! Here are some easy ideas to help you promote a lead magnet for your business.

Promote your lead magnet on your website

Your website gives you the perfect home for your lead magnet. As it’s your own piece of the internet, it also gives you ample places and opportunities to promote it too. So at a basic level, here’s what you can do to promote a lead magnet on your site:

  • Add it to your home page
  • On its designated landing page
  • Write blogs about it, linking to your opt-in form
  • Via an exit pop-up
  • In a hello bar (the thin coloured bar that appears above the header of your website)
  • Link to it in your navigation bar
  • Add it to your page of freebie resources

Use your emails

There are two straightforward ways you can add your lead magnet to your emails. The first is via your mailing list. Link to it within your lead nurture sequence and talk about it within your broadcast emails. You can also create specific emails to promote a lead magnet to your audience – both when you initially create it and regularly promote it.

The second opportunity is within your email signature. On an average day, I’m guessing you send out lots of work-related emails, so use them to promote your lead magnet! Adding a link back to your lead magnet opt-in page is a great way to advertise your lead magnet subtly.

Use your social media accounts to promote a lead magnet

Another easy place to promote a lead magnet is on your social media accounts. This is one of the best ways to get it in front of your ideal clients, and there’s a wealth of different ways you can do this, including:

  • In your bios
  • On your header graphics
  • Within your posts (opt to do this at least once a week)
  • In Facebook groups (check you’re allowed to promote and use the designated promotional threads)
  • Use your lead magnet opt-in page as the call to action (CTA) on your Facebook page
  • Refer to it to your LinkedIn summary
  • Add it to your LinkedIn headline
  • Add the lead magnet to the media section of your LinkedIn profile
  • Facebook ads

There are also options within Pinterest too. Look to create several pins linking back to your lead magnet’s landing page.

If you have a lead magnet, you need to learn how to promote it effectively. The above tips will help you to get it working hard for your business and attracting more sign-ups.
